Transcription: The main god of the Aztecs was Suítso Lopochtli, or Hummingbird Warrior. He was the god of war and also was identified with the sun. The Aztecs believed that Suítso Lopochtli died every night and needed a constant stream of human blood offerings in order to be reborn. To keep the sun alive, the Aztecs pricked their ears or tongues with the needles of the Maghe cactus and offered the drops of blood to the sun god.
